It was in November 1991 that the fifth generation Civic was presented. In its sporty VTi version, it incorporated the ingredients that had ensured the success of the previous recipe. The 1595cc naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine with variable valve timing gained 10hp, reaching 160hp. The engine was capable of exceptional performance, with a torque of 150 Nm at 7000 rpm. The maximum speed was 211 km/h, with acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in 8”2. Production of the EG6 VTi ceased in 1996 to make room for another VTi, the sixth generation, which had the same engine.
